La première partie de cet ouvrage est consacrée à l'histoire des traductions de la Bible : la Septante ; les écrits de Qumrân ; les traductions médiévales du Nouveau Testament en arabe, en catalan et en hébreu ; l'histoire des traductions françaises au Moyen Âge et dans la Modernité ; les traductions en russe et en grec moderne ; les débats entre catholiques et protestants ; les premières traductions féministes de la Bible. La seconde partie donne la parole aux traducteurs d'aujourd'hui : la traduction de la Septante en grec moderne ; celle du Nouveau Testament en hébreu moderne ; de la Bible en sang ; des évangiles en luxembourgeois ; la dernière révision de la Bible allemande de Luther ; deux traductions en anglais ; trois traductions récentes en français. It is through translation that most readers of the Bible access this source of the religions and cultures of our civilization. And so it has been for two millennia. But how are Bible translations made ? On which text(s) are they based ? Which type(s) of language are employed in them ? Which effects are aimed at ? Which difficulties might one encounter in the process ? These questions are addressed here by twenty scholars focusing on Bible translations of the past and the present. The first part of the volume examines the history of Bible translations : the Septuagint ; Qumran writings ; medieval translations of the New Testament into Arabic, Catalan and Hebrew ; the history of French translations of the Bible in the Middle Ages and in the modern era ; translations into Russian and Modern Greek; debates between Catholics and Protestants; and the first feminist translations of the Bible. The second part is written by scholars involved in current translation projects : a translation of the Septuagint into Modern Greek ; a translation of the New Testament into Modern Hebrew ; the Bible in Sango ; the Gospels in Luxembourgish ; the latest revision of Luther's German translation; two translations into English ; and three recent ones into French.
